Mosquito Nest Eradication in Cilandak Timur Targets 62 Houses

Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) action on Jalan Jeruk Purut, RT 004/03, Cilandak Timur Urban Village, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, targeting 62 residential buildings.

Cilandak Timur Urban Village Head, Agus Muharam said personnel still found that seven of the 62 houses inspected contained mosquito larvae, thus the larval-free rate reached 88 percent.

"Like the previous problem, we found larvae in plant pots, as well as plastic waste in standing water," he expressed, Friday (6/28).

He urged Jumantik (wiggler hunter) cadres to work more enthusiastically in eradicating mosquito nests, including continuing to educate residents about protecting the environment and creating a healthy environment.

Then residents were also urged to hold independent Jumantik, or implement 3M Plus  (covering, draining, and recycling), thus they could anticipate from an early age the potential for dengue fever mosquitoes to breed.

"From seven urban villages in Pasar Minggu Sub-district, we're ranked 6th, and for this month we have 0 sufferers," he explained.

One of the Jumantik cadres, Atin explained that besides carrying out routine larval inspections, his party also invited and educated residents on how to make mosquito traps using simple materials (Ovitrap), where later the trap would allow mosquitoes to lay eggs but not fly.

"Hopefully, with our enthusiasm and residents' awareness of the dangers of dengue mosquitoes, East Cilandak Urban Village will continue to have zero cases of dengue fever," he stated.
